Batik – batik – Indonesian word. Translated from the Indonesian word "ba" - means the cotton fabric and "tik" - "point" or "drop". Batik technique is based on the fact that the rubber glue, wax, and some other resins and varnishes, as they are applied to the fabric, do not let paint through, reserving certain areas of fabric from the paint.
TECHNIQUES
Hot batik
In hot batik wax is used as a reserve. Wax is applied with a brush. Places, covered with wax, limit the spread of paint. Hot batik is called hot, because the wax is used in the molten form. Effect of painting is achieved through the level by level application of paint. After the completion of the piece the wax is removed from the surface of the fabric.
Cold batik
Cold batik is increasingly used in the application of paint onto the silk, although other fabric may be used. The reserve is a dense mass of rubber origin. It can be prepared at home or purchased a ready one. There are colored, and colorless reserves. Cold reserve is applied either with a special tool - glass tubes with a reserve or reserve in tubes, which have an elongated spout. After the end of the work batik is fixed.
Free painting
Technique of free painting has received widespread application, as it emphasizes the peculiarity of the character of each artist and individual uniqueness of works, typical of manual labor. Painting on fabrics made of natural silk and synthetic materials is made by the aniline dyes (sometimes with different thickening agents), as well as using the priming composition. Interesting results are conjured when using glazing technology and application of salt solution. The essence of this method is as follows: stretched fabric (on the frame), depending on the nature of the picture, is either saturated with water solution of fine salt and after it dries, paint, or sprinkle salt while painting. After the end of the work the batik is fixed.
